It can be challenging to know for sure if a girl likes you. The reason is that studies show that guys tend to overestimate the interest of a girl. The psychology behind this doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that you don’t ignore the signs and thus loose an opportunity, and that you don’t see something that isn’t there, and thus embarrass yourself.

Here then are 5 indications that a girl likes you. Keep in mind that no single sign is the absolute answer, but the overall picture from all the signs should be a clear indication.

1.       Note the quantity and quality of her smile at you.  What this means is that you must have a baseline reading of how she smiles around other guys. What you are looking for is if she tends to smile wider and more when talking with you. Everyone has a different habit of smiling, so you need to judge her response to you in comparison to how she smiles around other guys, not how much she smiles relative to how much other girls smile.

2.       Look for eye contact. Girls are generally very good at hiding their glances and if you catch her once, she’ll probably make an effort to hide it even better. Nevertheless, if you see her looking at you, that is probably a sign of interest.

The above applies when you are not engaged in a conversation with her. During conversion, it is natural to look in each other’s eyes occasionally, and then glance away. Holding each other’s eyes a bit longer that normal is a good sign of interest.

3.       Does she tend to laugh at all your attempts at humor? Most people only laugh when someone says something genuinely funny, and no one can be funny with every attempt. If she gives you positive feedback by laughing at your every attempt at humor, she may like you.

4.       Does she touch you more than other guys? Again, everyone has different tendencies when it comes to how frequently they touch someone during conversation. You’ll need to see how she behaves with others to compare when she is with you. More touch means more interest.

5.       Look for signs that she is checking your interest in her. This can take the form as her expressing interest in going somewhere or doing something as a way of giving you an opening for suggesting that you do it together. Other ways might be dropping something so that you pick it up for her, saying she’s cold so that you can offer your coat, etc.
